How To Remove Duplicate Java Consoles

After I updated my Java runtime, I noticed that there were multiple versions of the Java Console in my Firefox extensions (plugins) list.  There was no remove button.  It seems that other people have had similar problems.  To remove the old java consoles you will need to manually delete the folder(s) for the old version(s) of the java console.

  1. Navigate to your Firefox extensions folder (in your install folder, not your profile folder). (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\extensions\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\extensions).
  2. With Firefox not running, delete the folders for the old Java Consoles.  The folders that start with {CAFEEFAC are the Java Console folders and it seems that the third string of numbers is the version number.  The example below shows the folder for Java Console version 6.0.26.  Leave the folder for the most recent version and delete the old versions.
